Former Sporting Kansas City forward, CJ Sapong wrote himself into the history books of his current team, the Chicago Fire as Saturday against New York City FC. With the score tied 0-0 in the 28th minute, Sapong got on the end of a pass by Brandt Bronico and knocked the ball into the net. The goal was the 1,000th league goal in the Fire’s history, the Fire became the eighth MLS team to reach the 1,000 goal mark.
Also this week, Kansas City native, Scout Watson signed with Reign FC of the NWSL as a national team replacement.
