Two former Sporting Kansas City players helped their current teams earn promotion to a higher division this past week in England. With Brentford, Winston Reid came on as a late substitute as Brentford defeated Swansea City 2-0 on Saturday at Wembley to promote to the Premier League. Then on Monday, Yann Songo’o and Morecambe FC went to extra time against Newport County League Two promotion playoff final. It took extra time, but Morecambe came away 1-0 winners and won promotion to League One.
Elsewhere in Europe, Erik Palmer-Brown and Austria Vienna qualified for Europe, winning the playoff in Austria to qualify for Europe’s new competition, the Euro Conference League defeating Wolfsberg 5-1 on aggregate.
