Former Sporting Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen is taking the reigns of another USL club in the 2019 season. After resigning as head coach of the Oklahoma City Energy this past offseason, Nielsen has been without a position, but been linked with a number of different openings over that time. Today, 2019 expansion side, Hartford Athletic announced that Nielsen would be the club’s first head coach when they take the field next year. It’ll be Nielsen’s second head coaching gig after retiring following KC’s MLS Cup victory in 2013.
Also, two former Sporting academy players have joined the list as Seo-In Kim, who played for the Wizards reserves back when MLS had a reserve league, is playing for Qormi FC in Malta.
