Across State Lines: Ellis Waived, Abdul-Salaam Loaned Out

Former Sporting Kansas City homegrown player, Kevin Ellis, is looking for a new club. The first homegrown player to appear in a competitive game for Kansas City had signed with the Chicago Fire this past offseason after being waived by KC. Ellis had played in 20 games for the Fire so far this season, staring 19 of them, scoring two goals and adding four assists. One day after he made a substitution in the Fire’s 3-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union in the US Open Cup semifinal, Ellis was surprisingly waived.
