Losing a starting offensive lineman to injury before the season is even a week old is not ideal.
Especially for a position group with as many question marks hovering around it as Southern Miss had headed into the 2017 season. But that’s just what happened to the Golden Eagles.
In the team’s season opener against Kentucky, left tackle Drake Dorbeck was lifted in the second quarter, never to return. He also missed last week’s win over Southern and is expected to be absent another several weeks reportedly due to a cracked forearm.
