DALLAS - Southern Miss has never faced Washington on the gridiron.
That doesn’t mean, however, the Golden Eagles don’t know what to expect from the Huskies when the teams finally square off for the first time at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at the Heart of Dallas Bowl.
And Todd Monken’s squad doesn’t even have to dig very deep into its archives to find accurate intel on the type of team it will see lined up across the field at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.
“Western Kentucky,” Monken said. “They’re a lot like Western Kentucky.”
Western Kentucky happens to be the last team Southern Miss (9-4)played as the Hilltoppers defeated the Golden Eagles 45-28 in the Conference USA Championship three weeks ago.
