Southern Miss picked up a commitment from East Mississippi Community College cornerback Ty Williams Friday.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Williams collected 25 tackles as a freshman for the Lions in 2016.
He is the fifth confirmed pledge to the Golden Eagles' 2018 recruiting class, joining Hattiesburg High linebacker William Robinson, Lakeland Christian quarterback Tate Whatley, Greenwood defensive tackle Jalen Bedell and Hinds Community College receiver DeMichael Harris.
Cornerback stands to be a position of need for Southern Miss after the 2017 season, when it will wave goodbye to seniors Cornell Armstrong, Curtis Mikell and Trae Collins.
Williams prepped at Charleston High.
