Southern Miss women's basketball coach Joye Lee-McNelis announced Saturday in a pregame show that she has Stage 4 lung cancer.
She was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2017.
Lee-McNelis has been the head coach of the Golden Eagles since 2004, and she's ninth on the school's all-time scoring list. She was also inducted into the school's hall of fame in 1997.
Before coming over to USM, she was the head coach at Memphis from 1991-2004, where she led the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament four times.
Lee-McNelis is a Mississippi native that played her high school ball at Hancock High School.
