After a 76-40 win over Samford on Nov. 18, the Southern Miss women’s basketball team returned to Reed Green Coliseum following the Thanksgiving holiday for the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic. Southern Miss went 1-1 in the two-day event to move to 4-2 on the season.
On Friday, the Lady Eagles faced off against Mississippi Valley State. Southern Miss took a quick 13-11 lead in the first quarter, but the Devilettes battled the Lady Eagles in the second quarter, as both teams scored 14 points apiece and Southern Miss took a narrow 27-25 lead at the halftime break.
Southern Miss maintained a narrow edge over Mississippi Valley State in the second half, outscoring the Devilettes 22-20 in the third quarter and 18-15 in the fourth quarter to come away with a 67-60 win.
