Southern Miss never quite reached the piecemeal stage along the offensive line after starting left tackle Drake Dorbeck went down with a cracked bone in his left forearm in the season opener against Kentucky.
But to classify that particular position group as relatively thin depth-wise even before Dorbeck went down would be an understatement. So the redshirt sophomore’s return to practice Tuesday was a sight for more than a few sore Golden Eagle eyes. Including his own.
“It was frustrating,” the 6-foot-6, 320-pounder said. “But I kept a focus on conditioning the whole time I was out.
