HATTIESBURG — After a slow start to the 2019 season, Southern Miss outfielder Matt Wallner has picked the right time to return to his hot-hitting ways.
Wallner was excellent for the Golden Eagles in their 5-3 win over Ole Miss on Wednesday, batting 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two solo home runs. Wallner also robbed Ole Miss first baseman Cole Zabowski of a home run in the second inning, reaching over the fence in right field to bring the fly ball back into the field of play.
