Lakeland Christian quarterback Tate Whatley was added to Southern Miss’ football signing class Wednesday.
Whatley, a 3-star dual-threat quarterback, committed to the Golden Eagles in May 2017. But the early signing period came and went in December without his name being announced as part of the 15-player group of recruits.
But the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder was announced by the football program Tuesday morning and has already enrolled in classes at Southern Miss.
According to Lakeland Christian’s MaxPreps account, Whatley threw for 961 yards on 74-of-128 passing with 10 touchdowns to just six interceptions. He also rushed for 373 yards and six more scores.
