METAIRIE, La. – Hunter Slater and Bryant Bowen each drove in a pair of runs and five Southern Miss pitchers blanked Nicholls State for a 5-0 non-conference victory at Zephyr Field Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles (16-6) won for the eighth time in a row and the 12th time over the last 13 games. The Colonels fell to 13-13.
Bowen and Gabe Montenegro each led the Southern Miss seven-hit attack with two apiece.
The Golden Eagles jumped out with a pair of runs in the third. After a couple of outs, Montenegro doubled off the chalk in leftfield.
