Southern Miss earned a 74-72 win over the Florida Atlantic University Owls on the road Thursday afternoon. The win is the team’s third straight and second consecutive victory on the road.
After an opening bucket from Florida Atlantic, the Golden Eagles (14-9, 6-5 C-USA) responded with a layup from senior Cortez Edwards and two shots from redshirt senior Tyree Griffin to jump out to an early 6-2 lead. But the Owls responded with back-to-back three-pointers to retake the lead.
Faced with a 16-10 deficit at the 13:14 mark, four consecutive buckets from Griffin, Edwards, and redshirt juniors Tim Rowe and Leonard Harper-Baker allowed the Golden Eagles to take a 19-16 lead.
