FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Arkansas’ seven-run second inning and Kacey Murphy’s dominant performance on the mound has Southern Miss facing the end of its season.
The No. 5 national seed Razorbacks battered starting pitcher Stevie Powers, who lasted 1 2/3 innings, for seven runs on five hits en route to a 10-2 victory in front of 10,213 fans at Baum Stadium Saturday.
Southern Miss (44-17) must now win three games in the next two days in order to win the Fayetteville regional. That quest will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in a rematch with Dallas Baptist. Scott Berry’s team clocked the Patriots 9-0 Friday.
