The Southern Miss Golden Eagles took on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville, and the SEC team controlled the action no matter who was at quarterback.
Mississippi State quarterback Tommy Stevens went 9-of-10 for 105 yards and two touchdowns but he did not return in the second half after suffering an undisclosed injury late in the second quarter.
Freshman quarterback Garrett Shrader led the Bulldogs for the remainder of the game, finishing 7-of-11 for 71 yards as Mississippi State defeated Southern Miss 38-15 Saturday afternoon at Davis Wade Stadium.
