Southern Miss' Oct. 17 game at UTEP has been postponed due to an undisclosed amount of positive COVID-19 tests for the Golden Eagles.
Both institutions are working with Conference USA on a rescheduled date.
This marks the second-consecutive week an USM football game has been canceled due to COVID-19 positive tests. Last week's matchup against Florida Atlantic was canceled because of FAU's positive tests.
"The health and safety of everyone involved continues to be our guiding force which made this decision to postpone the game the appropriate one," Southern Miss athletic director Jeremy McClain said. "We are disappointed for our student-athletes who will not get a chance to participate for a second-straight weekend, however, we will work with UTEP, in conjunction with Conference USA, to reschedule this game for later this season.
