If there were any leftover frustrations from Southern Miss football's 0-2 start to the season, consider them taken out.
The Golden Eagles obliterated a thoroughly overmatched FCS foe in Northwestern State on Saturday, 64-10, to claim their first win of the season and their fourth victory in 15 games under coach Will Hall.
The win over the Demons (0-3) marked the Golden Eagles' (1-2) fourth-largest margin of victory this millennium, narrowly missing 56-point victories over Savannah State and UAB in 2016 and 2008, as well as 55-point demolition of Rice in 2015.
Despite the big scoreline, the key unit for the Golden Eagles in this game was the defense.
