Southern Miss football has lost one of its starting wide receivers for the year.
Brandon Hayes won't play again for the Golden Eagles this season, USM coach Will Hall said during his appearance on the Sun Belt coaches teleconference Monday.
The Oak Grove product suffered an apparent knee injury during a special teams period at Southern Miss practice last Wednesday and was carted off the field.
Hayes, in his third season with the Golden Eagles, positioned himself to be a major factor this season for Southern Miss, offering Hall's offense a big-play deep threat on the outside.
