Southern Miss football fell to South Alabama 27-20 in the final home game of the season Saturday.
The Golden Eagles (5-6, 3-4 Sun Belt) held a four-point lead going into the final quarter, but the Jaguars (9-2, 6-1 Sun Belt) scored early in the fourth quarter and added a touchdown late to seal the win. Southern Miss added a field goal to get the game within a score but couldn't recover the onside kick in the final seconds.
The Golden Eagles managed 291 yards while allowing 411 yards and forcing three turnovers.
