Southern Miss football emerged from a Thursday night, nationally televised showdown against Louisiana with its third consecutive win, and it did so without contributions from key players.
Slot wide receiver Jakarius Caston did not play for the second consecutive game after leaving an Oct. 15 clash with Arkansas State early. A new addition to the injury list was star defensive back Eric Scott Jr., who played the first two snaps on defense Thursday and did not take see the field again.
Southern Miss coach Will Hall said Scott suffered an ankle injury during the pregame warmup.
