Scott Berry's final season in charge of Southern Miss baseball has come up one agonizing step short of college baseball's promised land.
USM fell 5-0 to Tennessee on Monday night in the Hattiesburg Super Regional's deciding third game, sending the Vols to the College World Series and the Golden Eagles into their offseason.
Berry's legendary career as USM's coach ends with 528 wins, 10 conference titles and two regional championships. He will now turn a program that has won 40 games in every full season since 2016 over to pitching coach Christian Ostrander.
