AUBURN, Ala. — Southern Miss baseball's NCAA Tournament game against Samford entered a weather delay on Sunday afternoon with the Golden Eagles batting in the top of the third inning.
A Plainsman Park announcement stated that lightning had been detected nearby and asked fans to clear the stadium and seek shelter in their cars. The delay officially began at 2:44 p.m. Lightning delays in college baseball must last at least 30 minutes.
Forecasts indicate that rain is possible throughout the afternoon and evening. The grounds crew was working to tarp the infield at the time of publication.
