AUBURN, Ala. — Southern Miss baseball will be out to score a win to open the NCAA Tournament's Auburn Regional when it takes on Samford Friday afternoon.
The second-seeded Golden Eagles (41-17) are taking part in their seventh consecutive regional and enter tournament play having won 19 of their last 21 games, also claiming the Sun Belt Conference Tournament crown.
No. 3 Samford (36-23) earned the SoCon's automatic bid by winning three games in one day last Saturday. The Bulldogs topped UNC Greensboro then beat Wofford twice to book their ticket to a regional.
