AUBURN, Ala. — Southern Miss baseball will be out to score a place in the NCAA Tournament super regionals for the second consecutive season when it takes on Penn in the deciding game of the Auburn Regional.
The No. 2 seed Golden Eagles turned a one-run game into an 11-2 blowout of the No. 4 Quakers late Sunday evening to force Monday's decider. After dropping their opener of the regional to Samford on Friday, they've now beaten Auburn, Samford and Penn to put themselves within a game of advancing.
Penn, one of the tournament's surprise packages to this point, has never been to the super regional round.
