AUBURN, Ala. — Southern Miss baseball will be out to extend its season and score a win over Auburn when it takes the field on Saturday in the NCAA Tournament.
The Golden Eagles dropped their opener against Samford in the Auburn Regional, 4-2, in 10 innings on Friday. Despite nine innings of one-run ball from Tanner Hall, USM never led against the No. 3 Bulldogs.
Top-seeded Auburn was also upset. The Tigers suffered a 6-3 setback to No. 4 Penn in extra innings. That result means one of the top two seeds in the regional will be eliminated by the conclusion of Saturday's contest between Auburn and the Golden Eagles.
