HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss baseball entered the 2022 MLB Draft knowing that its pitching would be of great interest to major league teams.
That was confirmed on Monday afternoon, when lefthanded arm Dalton Rogers went to the Boston Red Sox with the 99th overall pick.
Fellow reliever Tyler Stuart has received some draft buzz, and Southern Miss has no shortage of other live arms who could hear their names called.
Excluding 2020, when the MLB Draft was shortened to just five rounds, USM has had a player selected in every draft since 2008.
