MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Southern Miss baseball had its arms fresh, having needed only four innings from its relievers in winning its first two games at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
But it was Appalachian State that won a battle of the bullpens Saturday morning at Riverwalk Stadium, 4-2, forcing an elimination game later in the day (approx. 4 p.m., ESPN+) to decide who plays for the Sun Belt title Sunday.
The Golden Eagles (39-17) scored twice in the third inning before their bats fell into a lull for the remainder of the game.
