HATTIESBURG - Southern Miss baseball coach Scott Berry has made it clear he doesn't intend to take fourth-seeded Army lightly.

Berry announced Thursday that All-America ace Tanner Hall will pitch for the Golden Eagles in their NCAA baseball tournament opener against the Black Knights on Friday (1 p.m., ESPN+).

Through 14 starts, Hall — a sophomore — has a 2.69 ERA and an 8-2 record. He has 130 strikeouts in 93u2154 innings and only 11 walks.

"The first four weekends his work was on midweek starts, but then once we started conference (play) the fifth weekend, he took over the Friday night role and he hasn't given it up," Berry said.
