Seating charts and musical chairs: How Mississippi colleges plan to pull of baseball during pandemic

OXFORD — COVID-19 will keep Ole Miss baseball players on the edges of their seats.

In some ways, baseball is tailor-made to avoid COVID-19 issues. Unlike football and basketball, there isn't much physical contact. Pitchers stand 60 feet away from catchers who stand 90 feet away from first and third basemen who stand hundreds of feet away from outfielders. Catchers and umpires already wear masks. Unless you're a catcher or first baseman, you'll probably never spend more than two seconds within six feet of someone else.

In other ways, baseball is a logistical nightmare. Four games a week.
