Chase Scott and Daniel Keating homered while Tim Lynch had three hits and a pair of RBIs in Southern Miss' 9-1 win at Charlotte Saturday.
While Scott Berry's club, which pounded out 15 hits, had a good day at the plate, senior right-hander Nick Johnson (2-0) tossed eight innings without allowing an earned run to pick up the win. Austin Millet set Charlotte (12-15, 3-5) down in order in the ninth to secure the victory.
Southern Miss (21-7, 7-1) got a run in the first inning on an RBI groundout by Taylor Braley to go up 1-0.
