HATTIESBURG — Scott Berry and Southern Miss baseball have brought in some championship pedigree from close to home.
Outfielder Tate Parker, fresh off an NJCAA Division II national championship with Pearl River Community College, announced his commitment to play for the Golden Eagles on Saturday morning.
Parker was a force at the plate this season for PRCC, hitting .450 with 19 homers and 65 RBIs in 55 games. He posted a .531 on-base percentage and an .820 slugging percentage.
Parker, a Gulfport native who originally signed to play for Dallas Baptist out of high school, slugged 18 homers in 45 games during the 2021 season.
