Southern Miss junior pitcher Nick Sandlin became the Golden Eagles’ highest draft pick since 1997 Monday night.
The All-American right-hander — and reigning Ferriss Trophy winner — was the 67th overall selection (2nd round) by the Cleveland Indians. The approximate slot value at that spot is $939,700.
Sandlin, who is also a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award, told the Hattiesburg American Monday he will sign with the Indians in the coming days.
