HATTIESBURG — Southern Miss shot 65.7 percent from the field, its fourth-best performance in school history, en route to a 106-46 win over Rust on Sunday afternoon.
Southern Miss (6-2) led 54-18 at the half, going 8-for-17 on three-pointers in that period. For the game, Rust was held to 5-for-27 long-range shooting.
"I was really happy about only turning it over three times in the first half," Southern Miss coach Doc Sadler said. "Overall, we shot the ball very well, just like we had done a few times this season. The three games from North Florida to William Carey, I don't think we could have played any worse.
