After Southern Miss' 66-24 loss against Tulane, freshman running back Frank Gore Jr. sent a public apology in a now-deleted tweet and promised better performances for the rest of the season.
In the Golden Eagles' 41-31 win over North Texas last Saturday, he delivered a week later . In the road win, Gore rushed for 134 yards and his first career touchdown on 23 carries.
"I'm so proud of Frank," Southern Miss interim head coach Scotty Walden said. "A freshman and what he's bringing to the table."
Walden also praised redshirt junior Darius Mayberry, who rushed for 55 yards on 17 carries.
