Just a week after basketball coach Doc Sadler announced his resignation as the Southern Miss basketball coach, a new coach was named.
Former Southern Miss student-athlete and 1988 graduate Jay Ladner was hired as the school's head basketball coach, the university announced in a news release Thursday.
Ladner was a member of the 1987 NIT championship team.
