MONTGOMERY, Ala. — An eighth-inning capitulation of its own making gave Southern Miss baseball a chance to crown a hero on Thursday night against Troy.
Danny Lynch gave the Golden Eagles the moment they needed.
His base hit in the bottom of the ninth scored pinch-runner Brady Faust with the game-winning run in a 7-6 Golden Eagles victory.
"I just went up there looking for a fastball," Lynch said. "I knew he was going to try to get ahead. He didn't wanna walk me. Nick (Monistere) has been doing a really good job behind me.
