When the Washington Nationals came from behind to defeat the Houston Astros in Game 7 Wednesday night of the 2019 Major League Baseball World Series, the franchise earned its first World Series title. And, so did Nationals second baseman and former Southern Miss alum Brian Dozier.
Dozier, 34, became the first USM player to win a World Series, according to USM's baseball Twitter account.
Although statistically, his only stat in the World Series came as a walk in the Nationals game 4 loss, his regular-season contribution played a big part in the Nationals' success.
