TUSCALOOSA — After lighting the scoreboard up last week at Troy, the Southern Miss offense came back down to earth Saturday afternoon, running into an Alabama buzz saw defense.

Some may have thought the Golden Eagles had a chance to put up some numbers on an Alabama defense that has had some injuries up front and ranks 50th in the nation in pass defense, but that all seemed to be nothing more than a myth.

Southern Miss produced 626 yards of total offense a week ago, but mustered only 226 on Saturday.
