West Ham United put off-field issues behind them to claim an emphatic 3-0 win over fellow relegation strugglers Southampton.
Cheickhou Kouyate and Edmilson Fernandes started superbly in midfield for the home side, and it was Kouyate who set up Joao Mario to smash home the opener on the edge of the box.
Marko Arnautovic missed a gilt-edged chance shortly after to do little to calm the nerves, but pounced on the rebound of his own header to slam home from close-range and double the hosts’ lead.
The Saints were struggling to deal with the pressing by the Hammers, and conceded a third before half time when Arthur Masuaku (in his first appearance since his spitting shame) produced a glorious cross for Arnautovic to slam home and effectively secure all three points.
