West Ham have reportedly lodged an opening bid to Southampton for their captain James Ward-Prowse as David Moyes continues to chase a replacement for Declan Rice.
The Hammers have cash to splash after Rice's £105m departure for Arsenal and are keen to bring the Saints captain back to the Premier League following Southampton's relegation.
The reigning Europa Conference League champions have made an initial £25m opening offer to the south coast side, according to the Telegraph.
Ward-Prowse has long been linked with a move to the capital and is one of a number of Saints stars expected to return to the English top-flight after the club finished bottom of last season's Premier League standings.
