Liverpool academy coach Steven Gerrard would "love" to see Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk at Anfield.
Van Dijk, 25, has been strongly linked with a summer transfer to Liverpool, with sources telling ESPN FC that the player has indicated to the Reds that they are his preferred destination.
However, Press Association Sport reported on Tuesday that Southampton asked the Premier League to investigate an alleged illegal approach from Liverpool for Van Dijk.
Asked if he would like to see the Netherlands international at Liverpool, former club captain Gerrard told the Daily Mail: "I'd love to see him in a red shirt.
