Southampton have stripped midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg of the club captaincy after he made it known that he wants to leave the club, with James Ward-Prowse replacing him for the remainder of the season.
Last month, Danish international Hojbjerg confirmed that he wanted to play at an 'even higher level than I am currently.'
As a result, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed in a press conference on Wednesday that Ward-Prowse will take the armband, starting with their game at Norwich on Friday night.
'No, he [Hojbjerg] will not be captain,' Hasenhuttl said.
