Charlie Austin will be sidelined for four months after he travelled to America to see one of the world’s leading shoulder surgeons.
The Southampton striker dislocated his right shoulder during the Europa League tie with Hapoel Be’er Sheva earlier this month and his club recognised immediately the only way to cure the issue was with an operation.
Austin has had a history of shoulder problems and he sought several opinions in order to find the best solution remedy to prevent the joint popping out of its socket again – he suffered a similar dislocation when playing for Queens Park Rangers in January 2014.
