Southampton are preparing an improved offer to sign defender Nathan Wood from Swansea.
The bid is worth around £10million including add ons, with Russell Martin keen on a reunion with the 21-year-old he brought to the Liberty Stadium last summer.
However, Swansea are believed to value the defender, who has one year remaining on his current deal, at closer to £12m.
Wood made 40 starts for the Swans last season, as Martin led them to tenth finishing just three points off a play-off place.
Martin departed the Welsh side after two seasons in charge this summer to take over at Southampton after the club elected not to offer interim boss Ruben Selles a new contract following their relegation from the Premier League.
