Southampton have asked about Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana.
The Ghana star has already been on the radar of a few Premier League clubs including the Saints' relegation rivals Everton.
The Toffees had made contact with the French top flight side over a possible move earlier in the transfer window before sacking Frank Lampard.
Newcastle United were also interested but have since been put off by Rennes' £40million valuation of the 20-year-old who has 15 international caps.
Sulemana only joined Rennes in the summer of 2021 from Nordsjaelland in Denmark but is open to leaving the French side this month.
