Southampton chairman steps down with the club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League on just SIX points with Saints owner taking over

Southampton chairman Henrik Kraft has stepped down from his role and will be replaced by owner Dragan Solak.

Saints are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table with just six points, eight fewer than 19th-placed Leicester, and have lost all three top-flight matches under new boss Ivan Juric.

Kraft will remain a shareholder and on the board of Sport Republic, the club revealed in a statement which also commended Kraft for devoting 'significant time and energy to the oversight of club operations'.

Solak, the majority shareholder of the club's ownership group Sport Republic, said: 'I would like to thank Henrik for the dedication and passion he has invested in his role.
