It is two months until Christmas but Sam McQueen is already talking about snowballs.
Given what is happening in the 21-year-old’s career right now, one can understand why. McQueen was handed a daunting full debut against Inter Milan at San Siro on Thursday evening and is set for a second start at the Etihad when Southampton face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester Cityon Sunday.
Injuries have opened up a place in the side for McQueen — Matt Targett and Ryan Bertrand have hamstring problems — but youngsters only need a sniff of a chance to make their mark. Just ask Marcus Rashford.
