Leroy Fer got the breakthrough at Turf Moor, but supporters were forced to wait until the final 10 minutes to see a goal. The summer signing tapped in a rebound after a Tom Heaton save. Swansea were able to bring on Jefferson Montero and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the second half and took control, although the hosts went close through Sam Vokes and Lukasz Fabianski dived superbly to his left to keep Dean Marney out.
