Southampton salvaged an opening day point to begin the Claude Puel era but defender Maya Yoshida has warned his 'sleeping' team-mates to sharpen up when they visit Manchester United on Friday night.
The home side fell behind inside the opening ten minutes when Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue scored from a Troy Deeney knock-down and Puel's side struggled to gain any semblance of control during a poor first-half performance.
The Saints did recover in the second-half, as debutant Nathan Redmond struck after Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes failed to claim a corner. Indeed, Southampton were left ruing their failure to complete a comeback as Watford's Ben Watson was dismissed with fifteen minutes remaining.
